(Sanford) Yesterday was an insane day - non-stop conversations and the users are growing.  The CooBric Comm met yesterday and are getting ready for the Grand Opening Party on September 5th.  Get ready for some amazing announcements on the blog in the coming days.

(Sanford) Been quite busy the past week - and have not posted on the wiki in a while.  We have built the CooBric blog which you are welcome to come along an be part of.

The Cafe has had some issues that Notes - which we have addressed - and we are working on the audio server that we will be setting up for all to use and share.

Please be sure to read the blog, place your details on the CooBric People page and connect with Alex to be interviewed as a member of the CooBric.  Speak to Jennifer if you are interested in being a founding member/sponsor.

(Sanford) I will be putting up the CooBric thoughts soon, but one of them is to have a profile of you and your work on the wiki.  So, please, put up a wiki page for yourself in the CooBric People page.  We are planning on having a blog up soon with stories about people using the space and events planned.

(Sanford) If you have not already been there, please check out Jelly at http://www.workatjelly.com - the first coworking space here in Manhattan happening today.

Also, CooBric entry is free until Grand Opening which we will be putting up a date soon.

The CooBric GovCom met yesterday and had some thoughts/notes for what needs to be done next.

(Sanford) Sorry for the delay in being open today, the cook was delayed and did not get there until 10am.  Thanks for understanding the kinks will be worked out.

If you are interested in being part of the Governance Group, please sign up on the Meeting 073107 page (July 31st, 6pm, Cafe Fuego).  And, for the time being, pricing is still free for entry.  If you need to reach me, send an email to sdickert at the google service.

(Sanford) Had a good number of CooBrics in yesterday, growing our membership - and had some interesting concepts passed onto us.  For instance:

  • Have training/affinity days - Tuesdays: Ruby Hack-a-thons, Wednesdays: Facebook, Thursdays: Amazon Web Services
  • Have a two-for-one deal (have two drop bys and have one drop by free)
  • Have one day set aside per week as a "free" day - like Mondays
  • Have a Happy Hour on Fridays with discounts on drinks above normal Happy Hour

Any other ideas?  We will be having our governance meeting on Tuesday at 6pm at CooBric.  If you wish to be part of it, please sign the Charter List page and we will reserve a space.

(Sanford) After some conversation with other CooBrics, we came up with a new model for pricing that hits at a middle ground.  Please give any feedback you can so we can finalize this for next week:

  • One (1) day rate: $15 for in-town, $20 out-of-town; free drip coffee/iced tea, one free speciality coffee, 10% discount on Cafe Fuego food (and you get a $5 discount on your first visit)
  • Five (5) day date: $65 for one-month expiration; 15% discount on Cafe Fuego food for life of CB pass
  • Ten (10) day rate: $120 for one-month expiration; 15% discount on Cafe Fuego food for life of CB pass
  • One month rate: $230 for one month expiration; 20% discount on Cafe Fuego food for life of CB pass

In addition, we are considering Charter Memberships and Staff Memberships.

Staff Memberships - since we are doing this as a commmunity, we need support for managing the space.  So, in exchange of time, we will give a discount.  Such as:

  • four half day shifts, 33% discount on the five day pass
  • eight half day shifts, 33% discount on the ten day pass and 25% discount on the monthly pass

Charter Memberships - designed for supporting our efforts, we are offering two types of charter memberships:

  • Platinum - $1000/individual, $2000/corporate - free access to CB for life of card, 6 meetings/gatherings in CB, sponsorship name
  • Goal - $500/individual, $1000/corporate - free access to CB for one year, 3 meetings/gatherings in CB

We have a limited number of charter memberships (100) and we will support staff memberships for as long as we have slots on the staffing calendar.  Consider this as an option.

(Sanford) Okay! The two DSL lines are installed and the wifi is up and running!  Come on by and enjoy the bandwidth.  Power is available and we are negotiating virtual mailboxes with UPS Store around the corner for virtual locations for you and your friends.

We are also going to investigate a different financial model to allow for lower cost long-term pricing, coming soon.  If you are interested in coming and want to reserve your space, sign up on the space reservation page we are drafting soon.  Additionally, we are now collecting interest to be a Charter Member - which means you have a lower rate for the long-term cards but you have some community work (e.g. manning the desk for people to sign in and to get their space).

All this week - entry to the space is FREE since we are still ironing out the bugs yet.  Please feel free to stop by and tell us what you think.

(Sanford) Funny thing - someone just asked - what is the address of cooperBricolage?  It is located at Cafe Fuego, 9 St. Marks Place between 2nd and 3rd Ave.  Easiest way to get there - take the 6 train to Astor Place or the N, R, W to 8th Street and walk a block or so.  We will be there today working on extending the wifi.

Today and tomorrow All this week - entry to the space is FREE since we are still ironing out the bugs yet.  Please feel free to stop by and tell us what you think.

Second day at cooperBricolage

(Sanford) Verizon came and left - and now we have two boxes that will give us 7M download - one for each side of the space.  We still have to hang the routers up and wire the stuff, but we are a day away from proper bandwidth.

A whole new group of people - and with the note on AlleyInsider (thanks Dan) we have been getting increased traffic.  The visitors have been weighing in on the business model and who is coming by.  We believe the drop-in day rate will be less that $19 and we will have discounts on the 5 day pack and the 1 week pack - if you come to the space, make sure you speak with me (Sanford) about it.

We are also considering keeping a space in the front for people who drop in - guests and such - who are not in need of the wifi and just want coffee and food.  Please give us your feedback.
